The choir has a core membership of around 45 and is actively recruiting tenors, basses and experienced sopranos. We stipulate a minimum age of 15 years for new members but there is no maximum age limit! We are a non-auditioned choir, so musical experience is helpful but not assumed.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held from 7:30pm-9:30pm on Monday nights at Centenary Hall, Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School, 26 Miller St, East Brunswick. Our COVID-SAFE plan is reviewed regularly and ensures the safety of all choristers - we are currently wearing masks while singing, and ensuring appropriate spacing and ventilation.
Choir members are encouraged to attend rehearsals regularly in order to benefit from the technical instruction given by our Musical Director and to keep abreast of the repertoire learnt throughout the year. In the lead up to major performances, members are strongly encouraged to attend all rehearsals, including additional sessions, and to make use of mp3 recordings and other resources provided.
MUSIC
The KeyTones use original sheet music, which is distributed to all members by the Music Library Manager. Purchase costs are met by a combination of member fees and annual fundraising activities. We are compliant with copyright laws and unauthorised copies are not permitted.
Members are allocated a numbered folder and sheet music at the commencement of the year. Music from the previous year is to be collected and returned to the Library. Any members leaving the choir before the end of the year are required to return all folders and music immediately.
FEES
Members are charged a fee of $80 per school term ($50 for unwaged/students) which covers the cost of hiring a professional Musical Director and Accompanist. We also charge an annual music archive fee of $30 for the provision of music folders. A discount is available for those wishing to pay the annual fee upfront and alternative payment arrangements are available on request.

*The Musical Director, in conjunction with the Committee of Management, reserve the right to refuse membership to any individual or to rescind membership of a subscribed chorister if for any reason an individual is deemed unsuitable to be a member of The KeyTones Choir.
