Choir History
Posted: under Uncategorized.
The Keytones Choir was originally established as the Nurses Choir of Victoria in 1997, with assistance from the Australian Nursing Federation and the Royal College of Nursing Australia. The first rehearsal of the Nurses Choir took place at the Melbourne City Mission Chapel in February 1997, a venue that has subsequently become our permanent rehearsal location (see Choir Membership for rehearsal details).
More recently, the choir has opened up membership to the general public. Our subsequent name change to The Keytones Choir reflects the increasing diversity of our group which now includes teachers, writers, filmmakers and IT professionals. The only criterion for membership now is the desire to have fun singing in a group!
