The choir has a core membership of around 40 and is currently actively recruiting tenors and basses to balance out our sound and allow us to tackle more complex works.
Choir members are encouraged to attend rehearsals as regularly as possible in order to benefit from the technical instruction given by our Musical Director. While remaining committed to our original objective—to provide a fun, relaxed and sociable setting for singing—the choir has now attained a significant level of professionalism and strives for increasing excellence in performance.
Members are charged a fee of $70.00 ($40.00 for unwaged/students) per school term, which covers the annual cost of hiring a professional Musical Director and Accompanist. A discount is available for those wishing to pay the annual fee upfront ($260.00/$180.00 respectively) and a weekly payment is also available on request.
New members are welcome in the sections stipulated above and we also appreciate the return of former members. No audition is necessary and musical experience is helpful but not assumed. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 7.15pm to 9.45pm at the Melbourne CityMission Chapel, on the corner of Church and Nicholson Streets, North Fitzroy.
